Five things to do in the heart of the village of Fongrave

The Priory

The village of Fongrave is not just the perfect setting to explore the river Lot and the region of Lot et Garonne, it is a charming place to explore and enjoy the long summer days and evenings in peace and tranquillity. The 12th Century village is built around the Priory with a church and monastery, inside you will find a remarkable altarpiece (retable) commissioned by the prioress Françoise de Campet and carved in the Spanish style, with statues of the Virgin, St Peter and St John and the centrepiece painting Adoration of the Magi.

Fongrave Marché Nocturne

Eat and be merry at the famous Fongrave night market. Every Thursday in July and August, the village of Fongrave, overlooking the river Lot, comes alive with music, food and dance. Local producers and farmers sell their produce, cook it for you and villagers and visitors eat, chat and dance together to live music. Fongrave has one of the largest night markets in the area, attracting up to 1,000 people. It is free to attend, just sit at a table, order some food and have fun.

Explore the outdoors

The position of the village right on the river, with its boat slip and quay, allows you to arrive and moor at the village by boat. You can also enjoy the river, with FunGrave! Who rent kayaks, boats and paddle boards to take to river trips to enjoy all the river has to offer. If you like fishing, you can hire a 4 person fishing boat for up to 2 days. For those who prefer to explore from the river bank, rent bicycles, including electric bikes and cycle through the fruit orchards and country lanes.

Eat and enjoy a beer or wine in the shaded garden of the village restaurant. You can pop in for a coffee, drinks or a full meal right in the heart of the village. Its outdoor garden and leafy trees is a great place to enjoy a mix of French and international cuisine.
